COVID Response Protocols

COVID Response Protocols
COVID Response Protocols

The following protocols have been developed by the Township of Union Health Department in collaboration with members of the school district's leadership team and will be in effect starting September 1, 2022; these protocols are guided by the New Jersey Department of Health.

  • Students and personnel who are vaccinated will not have to quarantine if in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID regardless of vaccination status.
  • Anyone who tests positive for COVID must be isolated for at least five days and can return to school or work by the sixth day if symptom-free. A negative test result will not be necessary to return. It is required that masks be worn upon return to school or work for five days. Students who must isolate will be provided asynchronous online instruction.
  • Masks will continue to be optional.
  • Unvaccinated personnel will no longer have to test on a weekly basis.
  • The matrix that was created by the local health department and district leadership team to determine if schools should switch to half-day schedules or close last year will no longer be used. The district will maintain contact with the health department if COVID surges arise.
The district will continue to display its COVID dashboard on the main district website. Moving forward, all COVID data will be broadcast in the dashboard.
